Music classes for children
From age three upward, taught the way children actually learn: short activities, real songs, and a plan built around your child rather than a fixed syllabus.
What your child actually get
Children do not all start in the same place, and they do not all learn the same way. Musicraft begins with a free assessment that measures pitch, rhythm and aptitude, then adapts the teaching to the age and the learner.
A starting point, not a guess
The free assessment shows which instrument suits your child and what level to begin at, so the first month is not spent finding out.
Somewhere to play it
Weekly recitals and a monthly open mic mean a child performs regularly rather than practising toward nothing.
You can see the progress
Practice is tracked between classes, so you know what your child worked on without having to ask after every lesson.
How we teach each age
The approach changes with the learner, not just the material. These are the same bands the assessment uses to build a plan.
Ages 3–7
Tiny Learners
Topics are delivered through songs, games and movement. Each activity is five to eight minutes to match attention spans, and parents join every class as active co-learners.
Ages 8–12
Junior Learners
Concepts are introduced through interactive challenges and story-based contexts. Theory is always connected to something the child can hear or play immediately.
Ages 13–18
Teen Learners
Topics are framed around personal achievement and creative expression. Students set weekly targets and take ownership of practice, and performance is built into every class.

Keyboard, ukulele and drums suit most five-year-olds, because each produces a recognisable sound quickly and needs less hand strength than guitar or violin. The free assessment gives a ranked recommendation based on the individual child rather than the average one.
Either works, and the skills transfer. Keyboard is lighter, cheaper and easier to fit at home; piano gives weighted keys and better touch control from the start. Many children begin on keyboard and move to piano as they progress.
Musicraft's free pre-assessment measures pitch, rhythm and aptitude through short listening and rhythm games, and returns a Musical Intelligence Score. It needs no instrument and no previous experience, and it is designed so a young child can complete it.
This is the most common reason children stop, and it is usually a structure problem rather than a motivation one. Practice is tracked between classes with a clear next step, and regular recitals give a near-term reason to prepare, which is what sustains interest better than reminders.
Music training builds pattern recognition, sustained attention and working memory, which are general-purpose skills rather than music-specific ones. We would not promise better exam results, but the habits music practice builds do transfer.
One class a week suits most children, with short daily practice between classes. Consistency matters far more than duration: ten focused minutes a day beats one long session before the lesson.
